Reassessment Project
The City of Corning is undertaking a reassessment project which will result in new property values for 2026. A reassessment is a systematic review and update of all property values within the city to ensure that assessments are fair, accurate, and equitable. Over time, property values can change at different rates, which may cause some owners to pay more or less than their fair share of property taxes. Reassessment brings property values back in line with current market conditions so that everyone contributes fairly.
Although assessment changes can affect individual properties differently, the reassessment process itself does not raise property taxes, but rather distributes taxes more fairly. Only the City Council, School Board, and County Legislature can raise property tax levies.
